PROPPHETS OF CHRISTIANITY EZEKIEL   The seventy-year period of desolation of Jerusalem is also associated with the activity of the prophet Ezekiel. God made him "a watchman unto the house of Israel" (Ezekiel 3:16) and entrusted him with a series of prophecies concerning the fate of the chosen people, both under slavery and in the future restoration process. The Bible Students' prophetic movement, therefore, clearly entered into the role of present-day Ezekiel when, from the dawn of Christ's second presence, he began to proclaim the fulfillment of prophecies concerning Israel according to the flesh.   The prophecying upon dry bones (Ezekiel 37:5)     It is probably no coincidence that the birth of the prophet Ezekiel in 642 B.C. is pointing out in time parallelism to the significant year 1878 (2520 – 642 = 1878). It was the year of the end of so called "Double", a turning point in history when God rejected apostate Christianity, Babylon, and condemned it to destruction, and began to restore His favor to the chosen people. As soon as C.T. Russell and his coworkers recognized the fact that the disfavor of "Double" was over, they immediately hurried to send a message of consolation to the Jewish people scattered around the world (Isaiah ...more

PROPHETS OF CHRISTIANITY     "And when this cometh to pass, (behold, it cometh,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them." Ezekiel 33:33 "And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts" (2 Peter 1:19).   In above words, the apostle Peter declared that he assesses the Old Testament’s prophecies being expressed by "holy men of God being under control of the Holy Spirit" much more than what he personally saw during the transfiguration vision on the mountain. The words of the prophets, being recorded by them throughout the Jewish Age, and completely unclear for them, were like a flickering lamp illuminating the path of the followers of the Lord Jesus during the night of the Gospel Age. How priceless and sure this light turned out to be, however, when it flared up at the beginning of the seventh millennium (1874), when the dawn of the Lord's Day began to dissipate the darkness of the night and ancient prophecies began to be fulfilled.   The question arises: Since the time of our Lord's second presence ...more
