Exodus 10:20-29
"And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days; they saw not one another, neither rose any one from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings (...) But Jehovah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go. And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in the day thou seest my face thou shalt die. And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well. I will see thy face again no more."

Darkness pictures the total unawareness of the world of an imminent dangerous events. "Earthly kings," with their invisible leader, Satan, do not want to cede the throne of the world to legitimate new King, Jesus Christ, but they oppose to him, similarly as Pharaoh opposed to Moses. That is why, in spite of accumulating crises and conflicts, they hope to maintain the world in equilibrium. According to the Scripture prophecy, they still "are saying, Peace and safety."

The Egyptian darkness therefore, which preceded death of all first-born of Egypt are picture of the "dark" propaganda aiming at maintaining of the shape of existing world. This propaganda has been very intensified in the conditions of the growing discontent of masses and the general fall of confidence in secular and religious powers. Today, this tense state of affairs has attained the critical point and the battle of Armageddon began.

One should notice the unusual spirit of the reconciliation which appeared in the world near the end of the seventieth years of the past century. It was one of the distinguishing symptoms of present-day ninth plague. This spirit in the very small degree related to ordinary people. It were of world's leaders initiative to resign from the ideological fight and to begin the process of reconciliation. They enlarged the frequency of mutual visits and common meetings, manifesting their spirit of the agreement in warm words and gestures. What was the cause of this?

It was simply the common fear before anarchy which told the high and mighty of this world to abandon mutual differences and to stand in close formation in the defence of existing order. All compromises were made. The churches were asked for help and co-operation, especially the Roman Catholic church being the reliable medieval partner of the secular powers. In the result of behind-the-scenes politics took place the choice of Polish pope, so that the proper man found oneself in the proper time at the proper place. All these events were accompanied by suitable propaganda machine. The forces of conservative block, the nominal church, the ruling powers and the financial circles became euphoric when communism had been defeated ultimately – their purpose was achieved. However, what about a promises, which politicians had been make to the working class? When euphoria began waning the workers began to demand fulfilling of these promises.
The “benefits,” which the return to capitalistic conditions brought for the working classes can be particularly clearly noticed on the Polish political scene, where the departure from socialism started.
2 June 1979, briefly after being chosen on pope, John Paul II arrived with first visit to Poland. On the same day he made a speech to a countrymen in Victory Square in Warsaw, which he ended with biblical words: "Let your Spirit descend. Let your Spirit descend. and renew the face of the earth, the face of this land." After socialist powers surrendered soon, this last sentence of the pope was many times euphorically repeated as "the salutary prophecy."
When the spiritual leader of the whole world, being proclaimed "the hope of world", has called to God with a request for intercession, the only thing the people could do was to wait for blessed effects. One should only have waited, to convince oneself what would be the Divine answer, how much the alleged prophecy would turns out "salutary" and in what consists "the renewing.”
The symptoms of "the renewing of this land," that is Polish land, appeared soon...
The world of work, being deceived with promises of so-called "21 conditions of Solidarity," of "second Japan" etc., it felt this "renewing" immediately, when sparkling colours of promises soap-bubble cracked, flooding the eyes with bitter reality. Experts from the economy proudly offered to the government the politics tried already by capitalism, having "a salutary" effect on the economy: to force workers to the maximal efforts for the minimal pay. Their advice began soon to be effective the reduction of the wages, employment, social benefits, the blowing of the day-dreams of working class about the own flat, etc. The wall of the Leninist dictatorship of the proletariat had been overthrown irrevocably, so it stopped to protect the ordinary people from exploitation and humiliating often the employers arrogance. The feeling of disappointment and hopelessness began to grow among workers...

With the huge joy have greeted a systemic transformation all these people, to whom the socialistic corset restricted their freedom of action, moreover the people well-off and well educated, and at last, the group of a "born schemers." "The born schemers" quickly took over the many years' property of the helpless society and make fabulous fortunes. To the group of skilful and ruthless players should be of course included the Roman Catholic church. After the Second World War, the “people's power” in the large degree confiscated the huge properties which for long years the church wangled from believers and handed them over to the society as the legitimate owner. The Catholic church, after papal calling the Spirit for help, in the short time more than made up for herself losses. It’s little wonder that the great majority, which finds it hard to make both ends met, looks with the growing melancholy and anger at this narrow social group wallowing in the luxury as a result of "the salutary prophecy."

Earlier euphoria began quickly to wane, when it turned out that the end of the era of communism did not solve of principal problems neither Poland nor the world.

The Scriptures compare whole Christianity, present Babylon, to the terminally ill man, whom already no medicine can help.

"Babylon hath been a golden cup in Jehovah's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunk of her wine [false teaching]; therefore the nations are mad. Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: wail for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed. We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country; for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies." (Jer. 51:7-9).

In fourth volume the Studies in the Scripture (1897), the author has defined emerging socialism and communism as the last remedy which the doctors of the old world will administer to rescue its existence. There is no doubt about it, that the socialist idea of social equalization somewhat relieved sharp pains of strikes and social revolts, and prolonged about several dozen years the existence of Christianity. But this last medicine, in the doctors' eyes both of the West and of the East, also stopped to be effective. When all remedies were exhausted, the passive and hopeless expectation for the patient's death is the only thing they can do.

The description of ninth plague evocatively presents the reality of today's world as thick, simply palpable darkness.

John the apostle defined symbolic darkness, its causes and results (2 John. 2:11): "But he that hateth his brother is in the darkness, and walketh in the darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because the darkness hath blinded his eyes."

The spirit of the present time, selfishness, is the cause of symbolic darkness. This common weakness of the all people tells to them to take a firm grasp of their material assets and be blind on the needs of other people. Such is attitude of individuals, countries and entire world. Few people have accumulated so many wealth, that their lifetime won’t be enough to squander all this, whereas the majority of the people lives in more and more modest conditions, and often in the extreme misery. The powers are spending billions for armaments to fight more effectively against others in the defence of own businesses, to win natural resources and fuels and to take over the new markets. Meanwhile millions of Asians and Africans still are perishing as a result of diseases and hunger.

Symbolic darkness is the illustration of the general feeling of hopelessness, helplessness in the face of crises, incapacity and the loss of the control of a running events. In the fear of stumbling in darkness, the Egyptians were not getting up at all from their seats. The present-day world is similarly paralised by the fear of doing radical steps, because it is impossible to foresee their consequences. The catastrophe threatens from all sides. To make one thing – bad, to do inversely – yet more bad. In each matter there is no good solution satisfying for the all people. The whole world lacks the love, therefore it is like the blinded man: "is in darkness; he walk in the dark and has no idea where he is going, because the darkness has made him blind." (1 John 2:11)

The picture shows that the plague of darkness did not affected of Israelites. Similarly God's people, being educated by the truth, they are comprehending clearly the meaning of transformations which are occurring in the world. They were instructed that the entire civilized world, because of unbridled selfishness is being embraced gradually by the battle of Armageddon – the class struggle, between conservative block of the ruling powers and the masses of all dissatisfied people.

Certainly, during prevailing darkness in Egypt only a conversations were safe. Similarly is in today’s "darkness." Everywhere can be heard a loud propaganda speeches, concealing in fact fears about the future. The Apostle described this situation after he had vision of final times: "When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape." (1 Thess. 5:3.) The conservative world remaining in egoistic stillness is condemned to die in spasms of more and more sharp crises. There are this however, the puerperal pains preceding the birth of a new era, happiness of God's Kingdom on the earth.
In these political conservative talks having only propaganda value, the celebrations of anniversary of October Revolution in Moscow (1977) played the crucial role. The Soviet power emphasized then in public, in the solemn manner, achievements of the sixty years of socialism activity. They gave audience to understand that they resigned from the ideological struggle, but at the same time they are proposing socialism to the world as the most friendly idea, being able to ensure to all people a long-lasting peace and safety. They warned also, that rejection of this exceptionally wise proposal, how they seemed to judge, will be catastrophic for the entire world.

The propaganda of peace and safety in this particularly year has become especially loud and intense. The states, parliaments and the rules of the world answered positively to the appeal to pay homage to the benefits, which the Great October Socialist Revolution – the herald of the better future – brought. The churches of the world also paid the homage to the revolution and, in the same year, arrived at the capital of atheism to attend solemn convention.

Exceptional events of the autumn 1977 have marked beginning of "three days" of symbolic Egyptian darkness. According to God's method of counting of prophetic time the "one day for each year", they seem to represent the three full years from the period of three years and a half, since the autumn 1977 till the spring 1981, when tenth plague began, that is the death of the first-born.

In this propaganda period, next to the peace initiative of secular Soviet power, in the same tone sounded the speeches of the pope and the Protestant churches. They similarly seriously were warning to danger of opposition to peace politics and the results of some reckless steps. The Scriptures compared these three propaganda bodies to a frogs croaking and puffing themselves out proudly: "And I saw [coming] out of the mouth of the dragon [secular power], and out of the mouth of the beast [papacy], and out of the mouth of the false prophet [the federation of the Protestant churches], three unclean spirits, as it were frogs: for they are spirits of demons, working signs; which go forth unto the kings of the whole world, to gather them, together unto the war of the great day of God, the Almighty." (Rev. 16:13, 14.) Such propaganda however shows up "the kings of the world" false way. Their desire to remain in tough conservative positions – to tell only about equality and justice – without putting these ideals into practice leads to uncontrolled outburst of social anger. A such situation can compare to closed steam boiler in which the safety-valve was blocked.

Pharaoh did not want farther already to listen of Moses' ominous prophecies and openly threatened to kill him. Aaron was "a mouth" of his brother, Moses, who was "slow of speech, and of a slow tongue." Moses represents Christ in glory, a spiritual creature invisible to the naked human eye, whereas Aaron represents earthly representatives of Christ, God's people. Similar relationship is showed in the Book of Revelation. Our Lord, as mighty Angel, gives to his earthly spokesman – John class – a command: "Thou must prophesy again over many peoples and nations and tongues and kings." (Rev. 10:11; 11:3.) This last testimony of Church at the end of the Gospel age was showed as the prophesying of "the two witnesses." These witnesses are the prophecies of the Old and New Testament, which relate to the events of the final time. These prophetic events were understood and announced by John class at the time of the symbolic plague of darkness. "The beast that comes up from the abyss" (papacy) and its agents suppressed this "1260 days"-long testimony of the Church (1977-1981) – the two witnesses have been put to death. This way earthly career of the Church of Christ ended.
